Algarve Golf Course Nominated as Portugal's Best Golf Course in Prestigious Awards

San Lorenzo Golf Course is delighted to announce that it is has been nominated for an award in the 'Best Golf Course' category at the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards 2016. The awards aim to reward the best companies, services and professionals in Portugal's tourism industry across 20 different categories. Portugal, and in particular the Algarve, is home to some of the world's most popular and prestigious golfing destinations, and we are proud to be in the running for the title of the best golf course in the country.

Publituris is Portugal's largest tourism publication and has a readership largely made up of tourism industry professionals, such as hoteliers and operators, alongside those working in agencies, tourist offices, golf courses and associated organisations. It offers its readers the latest updates about major regional events and investments, statistics, news on the latest partnerships, as well as information regarding new promotions, businesses and key destinations. Founded in 1968, this biweekly magazine has grown to offer the leaders of Portugal's booming tourism industry vital - and independent - economic information. It is therefore an honour for San Lorenzo to be recognized and admired by such a well-respected industry publication.

Voting will close on the 12th of September and winners of the Publituris Portugal Travel Awards 2016 will be announced during a glamorous awards ceremony on the 16th of September. This year will be the 13th edition of what have become known as the 'Tourism Oscars' and will be held at Convento de São Francisco in Coimbra. The awards themselves will be voted for by Publituris subscribers and a jury consisting of some of the leading names in Portugal's tourism sector; including President of the Association of the Hospitality of Portugal (AHP), Raul Martins, and Luís Araújo, the President of Tourism in Portugal.

The nomination from Publituris Portugal Travel Awards 2016 is the latest in a long line of awards and nominations San Lorenzo Golf Course has received. Since opening in 1988, the 18-hole course has been named 'European Golf Course of The Year' at the International Golf Awards, 'Number 1 Golf Course in Portugal' by Golf Digest US and ranked within the top 30 golf courses in the world by Golf World Magazine. Boasting both a challenging layout, designed by American architects Joseph Lee and Rocky Roquemore, as well as breath-taking scenery that includes the protected Ria Formosa Nature Reserve, San Lorenzo has gained admiration and loyal fans worldwide.
